Innovations Research Coalition

In July 2025, we hosted the inaugural Youth and Family Behavioral Health Research Summit during the 2025 Training Institutes in National Harbor, Maryland.

With support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and informed by a Literature Review of peer-reviewed and gray literature, the Summit convened state decision-makers and youth and family leaders with prominent researchers, funders, and policy experts. Summit attendees aimed to collectively identify major information needs around youth and family behavioral health policy, funding, and service delivery--and research priorities to meet these information needs.

Next Steps for the Research Coalition

We are now supporting the work of a core group of researchers and research users to inform policy solutions and address information needs identified during the Summit. Researchers are working with leaders from youth and family-run organizations, as well as state agencies, provider associations, non-profit organizations, and others. Together we are identifying and analyzing relevant available data; compiling, synthesizing, and reporting on existing evidence; conducting new research where needed; disseminating findings; and convening learning communities to improve public sector services for youth and their families.
